Sweet Lullaby Baby Quilt

Recently I had the absolute pleasure to make this very sweet quilt for a sweet new baby girl in our church family.

The design for this baby quilt started with the backing - a super soft Northcott flannel with dainty little flowers that I found at a little local quilt shop in Pequot Lakes, MN. With a prayer that I had fabric in my stash that would work with it, I purchased a few yards.

My stash didn't disappoint - Lullaby by Kate and Birdie for Moda fabrics is perfect with its neutral prints and peachy color.

After several designs attempts to work with what fabric I had, this simple strip design with a touch of classic from the nine patch/Irish chain link element was the winner.

I wanted the quilting to add a bit of whimsy and fun, and I think the Loop the Loop edge-to-edge longarm quilting pantograph from Urban Elementz does just that.

I loved watching Loop the Loop panto quilt out. Stitched quickly and didn't use many bobbins.

Trying to capture the post-wash cuddliness here. The crinkly factor is amazing with this quilt!

It turned out so lovely and perfect. What a blessing to be able to make and gift this baby quilt.

Quilt Stats:
Size - 45" x 55"
Pattern - by Fresh Dew Drops
Fabric - Lullaby from Moda Fabrics
Batting - Heirloom cotton
Backing - Northcott flannel
Longarm quilting pantograph - Loop the Loop
Thread - SoFine from Superior Threads

Happy quilting, everyone!

Slate Quilt Pattern in Old Glory

What started as a mission to fulfill a birthday request by one of my sons for a patriotic quilt using Old Glory turned into a fresh new quilt pattern - Slate, a layer cake quilt pattern.

Although a very simple, straightforward quilt pattern, Slate delivers striking results. It's perfect to quickly make up a layer cake that you either don't want to cut up or don't have the time to cut up.

Fabric options available -
Don't have any layer cakes? Slate can also be made with fat quarters or yardage.

Want sizes to choose from? Slate offers 6 sizes:
Lap 45" x 58"
Throw 58" x 72"
Twin 72" x 85"
Full 85" x 99"
Queen 99" x 99"
King 112" x 112"

The recipient of my Old Glory version of the Slate quilt pattern requested velour backing so that's what he got.

Yummy cotton velour has such a nice weight and cuddle factor.
Extra bonus with how well the quilting pops! Love!
(For those wondering, it quilts up very similar to Cuddle.)

The longarm quilting edge-to-edge pantograph (computerized E2E quilting design) is Star Spangled Banner from Wildflower quilting. It's perfect on this quilt. Love the stars and flow that the banners add.

The Slate quilt pattern can be found in my shop

Happy 4th, everybody, and happy quilting!

New Quilt Pattern: Just Peachy - a jelly roll quilt

Hello fellow quilters! Today there is a new pattern in my shop to share, and oh my goodness! Just Peachy is so fresh and full of scrappy goodness!

Grab your nearest jelly roll or a bunch of scraps, add a bit of background/accent fabric, and get to stitching. Just Peachy is a fast, fun quilt pattern to make that I think quilters of all stages will enjoy.

Just Peachy is a precut friendly quilt pattern written for jelly rolls or scraps and offers 6 sizes:
Baby 40" x 56"
Throw 56" x 56"
Twin 56" x 72"
Full 72" x 88"
Queen 88" x 104"
King 104" x 104"

My sample quilt features the lovely fabric line Abide from Moda Fabrics. The prints and muted tones are soft, fresh, and oh so pretty.

I used strip piecing for my Just Peachy quilt, but traditional piecing instructions are included as well.

Either way you, you are going to finish up a scrappy, cuddly quilt.

My batting of choice was Hobbs Tuscany cotton/wool blend. I have come to love this batting in my warmer weather quits - a bit of fluff from the wool and old-fashioned crinkly goodness with the cotton.

Isn't she pretty?! I think this picture best represents the colors of Abide - fresh and clean with a vintage vibe. Love it!

The longarm edge-to-edge quilting pantograph Chantilly Lace added just the perfect delicate, lacy touch. It was my first time using this E2E quilting panto and it stitched out like a dream with Superior Threads SoFine thread.

Just Peachy is available in my shop with two options - Printed-Mailed-to-you or Digital-PDF-Download.

Happy quilting, everyone!

New Quilt Pattern: Stony Steps

Want to make a simple yet gorgeous quilt? Pick out two of your favorite prints, toss in some background, grab a copy of my newest pattern Stony Steps, and you are all set to make one gorgeous quilt.

My version of Stony Steps is made with two of my favorite green prints from Abide (by Brenda Riddle for Moda Fabrics - love the serene, peaceful feel of this fabric line).

It turned out so serene and cuddly with Shannon Minky Cuddle backing and Hobbs Tuscany cotton/wool batting - so so cuddly!!!

Pictures truly do not do this quilt any justice. I tried so hard to capture the peaceful serene feeling it gives. This pic here is the most accurate for portraying the Abide green prints.

Found the perfect longarm edge-to-edge quilting pantograph - Flirtatious Leaves found at Urban Elementz. It mimics the little leaf print and adds to the graceful, calm feel of the entire quilt.

Stony Steps is written with seven (yes, 7!) sizes:
Square - 63" x 63"
Throw - 63" x 72"
Long throw - 63" x 81"
Twin - 72" x 81"
Full - 81" x 99"
Queen - 99" x 99"
King - 117" x 117"

Lovely quilty texture for days!

Available in my shop in digital format and printed/mailed format.

My long throw size of the Stony Steps quilt pattern.
Currently dreaming of of a red, white and blue version.
Maybe with the Independence Day fabric from Sweetwater/Moda Fabrics.

Happy quilting, everyone!

New Quilt Pattern: Quickly Done - Winter Friends

Using my collection of Winter Friends (by Deb Strain for Moda Fabrics) warm neutrals + a bit of red snowflakes, I made up this sample of Quickly Done, a layer cake pattern.

When you want an uber quick layer cake quilt pattern with very little matching and no sashing, Quickly Done is the pattern for you.

I must admit I was a bit apprehensive that it might be too plain, but it's not (IMO : ). I absolutely love how it turned out.

Ran short on fabric so made a couple of four patches to substitute for the layer cake/10-inch squares

Can you see the squishiness? The wool batting + Cuddle backing (first time Cuddle user here) make the most luxurious cuddly quilt ever!!!

The longarm edge-to-edge quilting is the simple pantograph Loopy Snowflakes from Sew Shabby
Love her quilting pantos. They always stitch out so smoothly.

Go ahead. Reach in there and give this quilt a squeeze. You know you want to : )
I think all our winter quilts from here henceforth need Cuddle minky backings and wool batting.

The Quickly Done quilt pattern is written with five sizes -
Baby 50" x 50"
Throw 63" x 75"
Twin 75" x 100"
Queen 100" x 113"
King 113" x 113"

And includes instructions for layer cake/10" squares or yardage.

Available in paper or digital format in my shop.

Happy quilting, everyone!

Little Tree Log Cottage Quilt

My oldest work in progress (one of two - I don't like WIPs) is quilted, bound, and ready for Christmas 2026!!!

Pieced December 2019, I'm so happy to have this Little Tree version of my Log Cottage pattern finished.

Log Cottage is a jelly roll/precut 2 1/2" strips quilt pattern available with six sizes -
Baby 48" x 48"
Throw 60" x 72"
Twin 72" x 84"
Full 84" x 96"
Queen 84" x 96"
King 108" x 108"

Want to cut your strips, that's covered as well.

For quilting I used the String of Snowflakes edge-to-edge longarm quilting pantograph from The Quilting Mill. Such an easy, light, fun quilting panto.

The quilting shows up amazingly on the flannel backing. And I just noticed how good the binding looks with the backing! Love!

The Log Cottage Quilt Pattern is available in my shop in printed and digital formats.

Happy quilting, everyone!
