Albion Charming Barn Quilt

Albion, designed by Amy Smart for Riley Blake Designs, makes a very lovely A Charming Barn Quilt.

I used a charm pack/5" squares to make the 36" x 36" size. The little golden yellow inner border (cut at 1 1/2") was inserted to make it 38" square.

For quilting I used a pantograph I've been wanting to try - Clementine from Urban Elementz.
Sizing it down quite a bit gave the density I desired. (I like my quilted wall hangings and table runners to be quilted quite a bit denser than my throw quilts.)

Even though it took quite a bit longer to quilt out than I anticipated, I LOVE how it turned out.
The quilting really shines in the negative spaces.

Just look at all that quilty goodness!!!! And yet, the quilting doesn't detract from the quilt design or fabrics. Love it!

Such a cool plain white backing.

I almost didn't make this quilt. Wasn't sure if anyone in the house would care for the fabric; personally, I kept waffling about whether I liked it or not. My love of the floral prints won out and I went for it. The colors seem perfect for late summer into fall. As it turns out, my husband and one of my daughters really like it so I'm calling it a win-win : )
This quilted wall hanging turned out so lovely.

The A Charming Barn Quilt pattern is available in my shop here (paper or pdf/digital) and offers three sizes - mini charm pack (2 1/2" squares), charm pack (5" squares), and layer cake (10" squares).

Happy quilting, everyone!

Green Fields Zippity Zip Quilted Runner

My pictures do not do justice to how well this Green Fields version of my Zippity Zip quilt pattern turned out.

The greens and blues of the fabric line Green Fields by Lisa Audit for Wilmington Prints were such a joy to work with. Love the text and the botanical prints. Such a calm and cozy fabric line, perfect for a table runner quilt to take your home through all the seasons.

Batting of choice is not batting but a heavy flannel.

The medium size was perfect for the space for which this quilt was made.

Using my regular sewing machine, I quilted straight lines spaced at just under 1/2" the entire length of quilt. When I do quilting like this, I always loosen my thread tension a couple clicks and loosen the pressure foot pressure by several clicks. Making these adjustments helps the quilt stay square and not get distorted out of shape.

Long quilted table or bed runners make a great quilty roll - love!

The Zippity Zip quilt pattern is available in my shop. It is precut 5" squares/charm pack or scraps friendly.

Happy quilting, everyone : )

Vintage Just Strips Table Runner

A quilt shop had a Vintage fat quarter bundle on clearance sale, and I couldn't resist. There is just something about this fabric line from Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics that pulls me in every time I see it. I think its the colors and the prints - a blend of summer and patriotic.

Wanting to sew up a quick runner, I grabbed my Just Strips quilt pattern, cut a few strips, and voila! finished so quickly!

For quilting I used the Crosshatch edge-to-edge pantograph from My Creative Stitches. I need some practice working with this panto but love how it turned out.

Such a sweet little quilted tablerunner that added the perfect fresh touch of charm to our dining room table this summer.

Happy quilting, everyone : )
