Oh! I love everything about this Christmas Carol Star Compass Barn Quilt quilted wall hanging.
Finished way out of season (or very early : ) but finished! and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
The fabric is the gorgeous line Christmas Carol by 3 Sisters for Moda Fabrics. So beautiful! It's a very classic fabric line with beautiful small prints and classic holly. The text print is perfect!
The inner border and binding is a Moda Marble that I've had for years. I think it frames this Star Compass Barn Quilt perfect and works marvelously with that warm tan small floral print.
Just had to get this picture in the winter sunshine. There is something special about quilts in winter sunshine.
This is the first Christmas version of Star Compass Barn Quilt that I've made. I made the charm pack/precut 5" squares option of the quilt pattern. Using a charm pack makes what little cutting there is go even quicker.
This little wall hanging quilt would have been done a couple weeks ago, but I just couldn't decide on how to quilt it. I had half a dozen quilting pantographs I was considering and just couldn't seem to narrow it down. I wanted the quilting to let the fabric and quilt pattern shine.
Based on the reviews and name : ), I settled on Briar Rose in Winter from My Creative Stitches. It does not disappoint. It stitched out smoothly and quickly, and I think it is the perfect finishing touch on quilting up this wallhanging. It suits the fabric so well and doesn't detract from the fabric or quilt pattern. Love it!!!
Kinda looks like a butterfly at this angle : )
