New Quilt Pattern: Pumpkin Time

Next up in my "Seasons" little quilt series is Pumpkin Time. Mix and match prints and colors or simplify and use limited prints. Either way this quilt pattern turns out darling.

This small quilt pattern is written for two sizes -
40" x 40" - table topper/wall hanging
15" x 49" table runner.
Can be made with charm squares, layer cake squares, fat quarters, or scraps. It's a very versatile pattern.

A couple of my favorite blocks.

And the adorable little pumpkin border fabric! Love!

The Pumpkin Leaf Swirls quilt pantograph from Mindy at QuiltingTogether.net stitched out beautifully and is the perfect finishing touch. Love how the vines and pumpkin leaves flow over the quilt top.

My sample of Pumpkin Time is made with Hello Autumn by Monique Jacobs for Maywood Studio. This fabric line is filled with warmth and charm. It gives all the cozy autumn vibes and my photos definitely don't do it justice.

The Pumpkin Time  quilt pattern is available in my shop here.

Happy quilting, everyone : )

New Quilt Pattern: Orchard Time - an apple quilt

When I think of fall, I inevitably think of our annual apple orchard trip. For several years I've wanted to commemorate our 20+ years of family apple orchard trips with an apple quilt. It's finally finished and published and can be purchased in my shop here.

So thrilled to be able to give you all Orchard Time - an apple quilt. All you need to make your own Orchard Time quilt is traditional piecing skills and some scraps or charm squares or layer cake squares or fat quarters. Throw in some sashing, background and border and you are all set to make up a cute quilt top.

Instructions include two sizes - 40" x 40" table topper/wall hanging and 15" x 49" table runner.

The patchwork setting gives space for showing off favorite prints and colors.

My Orchard Time quilted table wall hanging is made with Scarlet & Sage by Fig Tree & Co for Moda Fabrics. It's such a perfect early fall fabric line - touch of warmth with the brightness of early fall.

Quilting was done on my APQS Millie longarm using a pantograph called Triplet from Ma Tante Quilting. I love the light breezy airiness that it lends to the quilt top. It quilted out like a dream, quickly and smoothly, even though I shrunk it down a bit to make the quilting a bit denser for a wallhanging.

Even though it took longer than I would have liked, I'm thrilled with how my vision for an apple quilt has come to life.

If you would like to share your version of an Orchard Time quilt, I'd love to see. Please use #orchardtimequilt

Happy quilting, everyone : )

Farmhouse Summer Wallhanging

While I do find working with fabric panels challenging, I couldn't pass on making up the Farmhouse Summer (an Echo Park Paper Co fabric line for Riley Blake Designs)  panel into a wallhanging as there are too many elements to love - the colors, the barn, the farmhouse, the florals, the welcoming bench, the phrases. Ah! I love it all!

Inspired by the free design for this fabric panel on RileyBlakeDesigns.com, I simplified the border design a bit with a simple four patch vs a star. I couldn't decide between the red print and the yellow print; the four-patch allowed for both.  The large blue floral coordinates so well with the four-patches.

I spent a lot of time trimming the panel to get it as square as I could. So glad I put in the extra effort. It looks and hangs so well; couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Here are a few shots focusing on the different segments of the panel.
"Together is our favorite place to be"

"Welcome"
"Live Simply"
"The best days are happening right now."

Seriously, could it get any better?

"Love makes a house a home."
Home can be anywhere in anything : )

The quilting was done on my APQS Millennium using the Baptist Fan Simple pantograph by My Creative Stitches. The quilting turned out so well and stitched so smoothly.

Have you ever made a quilted wall hanging only to discover when it was finished that you don't have a place to hang it? Yeah. That's me : ) We're working on rectifying that, but, in the meantime, I had to get creative with finding a place to take pics. While the quilt has been finished for a couple months, just a few days ago it finally dawned on me to string a rope on the deck rails. Voila! I believe I'll be taking more pics here in the future.

Happy quilting, everyone : )
