Marian Barn Quilt: Harvest Road

When designing Marian Barn Quilt I mocked it up with several fabric lines. The second version of this quilt pattern I made just had to be Harvest Road. I can hardly believe it took me this long to make with this fabric line by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics, but I'm so glad to finally have a quilt made with it.

I think Marian Barn Quilt pattern really shines with Harvest Road fabric.

The center absolutely has my heart! The pinwheel within the star is just perfect!!

The straight-line quilting makes a bit of hashtag quilting in the corners and in the center.

I thought about doing hashtag quilting overall but settled for corners and centers to keep a bit of softness in the quilt. I've learned that wallhangings hang better if they aren't too stiff. (in my opinion, any who : )

Really wish my photography skills were better so that I could capture the beauty of this quilted wallhanging. The greens and blues are just wonderful, especially on gray days.

This Marian Barn Quilt using Harvest Road fabrics by Lella Boutique has a warm coziness that I just love. It fits perfectly in our dining room.

Happy quilting, everyone : )

NEW QUILT PATTERN: Lakehouse Steps {Runner}

Today it gives me great pleasure to introduce my latest pattern - Lakehouse Steps {Runner}. This super easy quilting pattern is written to use 2 1/2" strips (jelly roll strips) or cut yardage. It finishes at 12" x 72", but it can be easily shortened or lengthened.

My sample quilt features Scarlet & Sage by Fig Tree & Co for Moda with accent squares from Honeysweet also by Fig Tree & Co. The accent squares can be cut from yardage or trimmed down from charm pack squares.

I wasn't feeling the love for this quilted table runner until I switched out one of the simpler prints for that lovely floral print you see. Now, it's a simply lovely runner : )

For the straight-line quilting I just used the edge of my walking foot as guide to get roughly 1/2" spaced lines. I really enjoy straight-line quilting on an extra long runner. It's nice to just sit and quilt for a while and not run out of length to quilt.

Extra-long quilted table runners make the best quilt rolls. Makes me smile : )

If you would care to share on Instagram, would love to see your quilt at #lakehousestepsquilt.

Happy quilting, everyone!

NEW QUILT PATTERN: Marian Barn Quilt

Introducing Marian Barn Quilt, a new quilt pattern drawing its design inspiration from the traditional barn quilts.

Marian Barn Quilt pattern combines simple squares and half-square trains (HSTs) to create a simple yet striking quilt design. The simple border frames it out.

The center that almost wasn't.  All summer I have looked at this pattern, and finally with only a few days of summer left I started it and finished the top. And I looked at it some more.  Something wasn't quite right. It needed something different, something to take it up a notch. The center was initially four simple squares, nice but a bit "flat". Playing in EQ8 one day, I exchanged the squares for HST and voila! I absolutely love how the center is now and how it makes the entire quilt seem complete. Yes, I unstitched the center and replaced the squares with HSTs. I couldn't be more pleased with the result; it was worth the slightly frustrating efforts of unstitching and restitching into the center of a finished quilt top. Sometimes you do just have to take your time, step back, pause, and try something different.

Although finished at the end of summer, I had a lot of fun sewing up Marian Barn Quilt with Summer Sweet by Sheri & Chelsi for Moda Fabric. The colors, the prints, what's not to enjoy? I will leave this quilted wallhanging up for a couple weeks then it will be put away ready for next summer. It was so hard to get this quilt finished this year. Other priorities kept taking my time. It got so late in the summer I couldn't decide whether or not to go for it. My husband told me that if I liked the charm pack and wanted to make with it, then I should. So I did. And I'm so very glad I did. It's cheerfulness makes my heart smile.

Simple straight line quilting with a touch of cross hatch in the corners. All done with a walking foot.

Marian Barn Quilt pattern is available with charm pack, mini charm pack, and layer cake options so you can make a quilted table topper, wall hanging, baby quilt, mini quilt or large bed quilt.

The Marian Barn Quilt Pattern can be found here in my Etsy shop.

Happy quilting, everyone : )
